It’s been a while since I’ve done any updates.
That’s mainly because I was stuck and but also because I was busy managing on my other business.
But now a new post, which means fresh inspiration for my food company!
My biggest challenge has been looking for an application of regenerative agriculture.
I know it’s good and the future, but the average consumer doesn’t care about this yet. If we look at the adoption of organic, we see that after 20-30 years, it’s still very low. And many consumers are still skeptical about it.
On the Investing in Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, I stumbled on a Q&A with Dan Kittredge.
Dan is the Executive Director of the Bionutrient Food Association.
Right now the intuition of a lot of farmers and practitioners goes into the direction that the right farming practices leads to better nutrient density.
The main goal of the BFA is to study this link further, prove the connection, but also discover what practices have the biggest impact on nutrients.
One of their main endeavours has been to create a handheld device that can measure the exact nutrients inside fruits or vegetables.
It’s a step of from the current standard of testing for nutrients, Brix.
There are all sorts of reasons why Brix isn’t a very accurate measure for actual nutrients.
But more on that in the future. I’ve just ordered a Brix meter to start getting more familiar with it.
Let the testing begin 🙂
It’s another rabbit hole I’m currently going down in, but I feel like it’s the key to moving forward with my food company.
