One of big differences with conventional farming is mono cropping.
Instead of one crop, a farmer crops are combined.
This diversifications helps with soil health, but also offers diversification of income.
This also means that distribution gets more complex for a farmer.
While the supply chain for organic products has been built up, none of that is in place for regenerative products (There are no labels or certifications at this point).
Directly selling to consumers, in their own store or a market might be an alternative for some.
But as a farmer it requires a totally different operation and a lot of extra skills, expertise and time.
So if there is no demand beyond what they can sell directly, it reinforces some of the barriers that hinder regenerative agriculture.
What if there were companies that would purchase these products, and would sign contracts to do so?
